THATS REAL CHEEKY | Benefit blushing beauty kit review

I love Benefit Cosmetics and I think it's pretty obvious I do. Ever since I tried their eyebrow wax and powder, I've been head over heels for all their range of beauty products and I've made it my duty to try them all, old or new. So when the Christmas month rolled around and they brought out their Limited Edition sets, I had to pick at least one up! This one is the 'Real Cheeky Party' set which had a value of £110 but was being sold for £29. Now that's a blooming bargain!

First of all, just look at the packaging! Benefit always have such pretty packaging that gives off a sort of retro vibe and I love it. I'm also really happy that this set comes in a metal tin because I think that the Benefit boxes are too weak for their products and mine always warp and break apart super easy, which is rather annoying as I like to keep my boxes to my makeup because I want to stop them from getting damaged and bashed about in my various makeup bags.

The set contains five of their blushes/bronzer (Dandelion, Rockateur, Sugarbomb, Hoola and Coralista) which can all be bought separately at £23.50. As well as the fantastic face powders, you also get a miniature Watt's Up! which is a cream based highlighter rather than a powder which gives a lovely golden shimmer on your cheek bones. That's not all what's in the set either! You also get sample size versions of their amazing 'They're Real! Push-up eyeliner' and 'They're Real! Mascara' both in black.

Sadly the set doesn't come with any sort of blush brush for you to use with your five new powders but luckily I have my trustworthy Real Techniques brushes which work really well with the powders.

I've been using this set since Christmas now and I can honestly say that the Hoola bronzing powder is one of the best I've ever used. It is perfect for subtle (or not so subtle) contouring and you can use it to give you a lovely tan effect on your cheeks. I only lightly brush the powder with my brush as it seems to pick up quite a lot of product compared to what you can see, so be careful with this one as you could end up going overboard with how much you place on your face.

Sugarbomb is a very close second to my new favourite Hoola bronzer because it gives my cheeks a lovely glow which isn't too bright nor heavy. The four different colours are picked up well on my brush and blend together very well on my cheek bones, giving me a healthy look which isn't glaringly over the top or too shiny.

The Rockatuer is also high up on my list of new favourite blushes after playing around with it. Its darker than Sugarbomb and gives my cheeks a more rose gold colour and looks very nice when the light is shining on it. Once again, this isn't too overpowering of a colour and a little bit certainly goes a long way.

Sadly I haven't been using Dandelion or  Coralista much as I feel the colours are too summery for me at the moment. I'm naturally tanned and these colours are a little too bright for me at the present time, but when it comes closer to spring and summer, I'm going to give them another shot as they already feel worthy enough to be used often. Dandelion is a very pink blush and not shimmery, so I don't get much of a glow as I'd like but it would look fantastic on fairer people. Coralista is very much what it says it is - coral. While it is a lovely shade, coral isn't an overly flattering colour for me but would look nicer in the warmer seasons to give me that extra bit of summer love on my cheek bones.

All five of the powders are a treat to use and feel weightless on my face. A little bit goes very far with all these powders and you can easily get the flush and contour you want with the tiniest bit of product. I would recommend getting a full size version of the Hoola bronzing powder as it is so good! It's definitely the one I'm going to run out of first, that's for sure.

As this set is about the powders, I'm not going to go into detail about the highlighter, eyeliner and mascara as I will eventually have separate posts about them coming soon - you gotta watch this space, man! Really though, they are also great products and the mascara is pretty amazing, I don't think I ever want to go back to drug-store mascaras.

Have you tried any of the Benefit blushers? Are you also in the Hoola fanclub?

  2. I really regret not picking up one of these while they were available.
I have the large sizes of both Coralista and Dandelion. I have been wearing dandelion a lot. I use either of these pretty much any time I apply make up and Dandelion has lasted me two years almost. They are very good value and a lot goes a long way. I whole heartedly agree that Coralista is a summer blush but I get away with Dandelion at this time of year. I am dying to try Hoola and Rockateur though.

    1. I've noticed that with most Benefit products, they tend to last a very long time - saying this though, the foundation definitely doesn't! I use two pumps of it every other day (I don't wear makeup daily because I'm too lazy to leave the house haha) and its over halfway gone, and I got it in November! I'm definitely going to try wearing Coralista when the warmer months comes because its such a lovely shade and yes, you should definitely give both Hoola and Rockateur a try x

  4. Wow this is a great bargain!! I used to buy a few pieces from Benefit, but I haven't recently. I think it's good to get a mini version of all the blushes before committing to one. Hoola looks awful on me, I borrowed a friends once and I just look like I'm covered in mud!

    1. Yes it was! I was so pleased when I managed to get it because it sold out on the website so bloody quick. It's a shame Hoola didn't work out for you though, I think you have to be delicate with how much you use because I've accidentally wore too much and looked like I had melted chocolate on my face haha!

  11. What a gorgeous little set - I absolutely love Benefit! Hoola is definitely my holy grail bronzer to give me a glowing contour, it's perfect especially in the summer! I've never tried any of the blushes included in the set, I have Hervana which is a gorgeous dusky pink. Watts Up is also one of my favourite highlighters, its golden glow compliments Hoola perfectly. Lovely post!

    1. Its so fun to use! I'm still experimenting with all of the blushes in the set but Hoola is always a must for me now, I don't know how I managed without it. I saw Hervana on the website and I might go to the Benefit counter in Boots and give it a little test before I buy it and yes, Watts Up is so good with Hoola! I really like their Shy Beam highlighter too, so good for under brows x

  12. I was very nearly tempted by this palette, but I have Hoola already and only really wanted Rockateur. My favourite Benefit blush is Hervana, it's the perfect shade without being too OTT.
