MY MAKEUP BAG | Lets have a peek

Whether we like to admit it or not, we all love a good nosey at others belongings to see what they've got. So of course as a beauty blogger, I had to eventually do a post showing you guys what I tend to keep stuffed in my makeup bag. I honestly feel sorry for my little bag, its absolutely stuffed and I'm surprised the poor zipper hasn't busted yet!

First of all, my makeup bag is currently being dominated by Benefit products - even my makeup bag is from them! Sadly you have to be part of a blogger program to get your hands on this bag and you (if you are a blogger of sorts) have to contact them/have you invite you to it, so I'm not sure if this will ever be available for the general public - sorry!

Firstly, I have my MAC Prep & Prime Fix+ spray. At £17 a bottle, its quite the investment but it makes a real difference to your makeup! I usually spray 3 to 5 times on my face before any other makeup is put on to prime my skin, 2 to 3 after my foundation, concealer and powder is on to set it properly and then 2 to 3 more once all my makeup is on. You may think this is a lot but it's nowhere near empty and I've had it since November!

Next up I have my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Definitely a cult classic within the beauty blogging community, once using it you can see why. It's long lasting, easy to blend in and doesn't crease (for me it doesn't anyway, and that's the problem I usually have with expensive concealers!). I use both the 'Fair (1)' and 'Cool Medium (2)' shades - the cool medium goes on before my foundation to cover up dark circles and the fair shade is used for highlighting and brightening my face.

After that, I have my Benefit 'Hello Flawless! Oxygen WOW!' foundation. This is a very good foundation that you can build up for medium to heavy coverage and works very well with dry/combination skin! Also, if you want a dewy glow, this foundation will certainly give you one.

Next I like to set my under eye concealer and the dull the super shiny parts of my face with the Collection 'Sheer Loose Powder' in 'Translucent'. It's not the best sheer powder I've ever used but it does the job, which is all that really matters!

When it comes to my eyes, I tend to keep my Sleek 'Enchanted Forest' palette in my makeup bag as all the colours suit me rather well (if I do say so myself) and it fits just right. If you haven't tried Sleek, I'd definitely tell you to give them a go! They have a big range of palettes that aren't stupidly expensive and are of really good quality for the price. I also love to use the Benefit 'They're Real! Push up Liner' in black. The tip is flexible and plastic which can be difficult to get the hang of using at first, but once you've got it, your eye-liner is guaranteed to be on point. Making cat eye flicks has never been so easy. I also use the Benefit 'They're Real! Mascara (not pictured, argh!) which adds crazy length to your lashes with little to no clumps!

For my eyebrows, I always stick to using the Benefit 'Browzings' (sorry Anastasia Beverly Hills, you don't win me over) as the gel inside isn't too sticky or thick and keeps my stray hairs in place so well. The powder used to set the gel is also one of my favourites as it doesn't have any fallout and makes eyebrows look very natural (or not, if that's what you prefer).

Finally, for my highlighter I'm currently using the Benefit 'Watts Up!'. It comes as a cream product rather than a powder (which I tend to prefer) but leaves a lovely champagne/golden glow on your cheeks that can make you shine like the sun - perfect!

Have you enjoyed taking a peek in to my makeup bag? Do you keep any of these products in yours?

  5. I'm a huge fan of Fix+.. People often don't understand what it's for and think it's a setting spray but 'fix' is used more as in like correcting.. I adore it, especially for reducing that 'powdery' look! I also loved the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation when I tried it a few years back but I've never been back to it since! If you like that, you should try the YSL Touche Elcat Foundation, although it's been reformulated!

    1. Yes it definitely helps with powdery and cakey looks! I'm ready to get some more as mine is about to run out argh. It's made my skin a lot better as well when I've not got makeup on as it feels moisturising after its wiped off. I'll definitely have a look at the YSL one though!

  8. As someone who doesn't wear make up (seriously the last time I wore make up was my prom) this is like a different language to me! I've been wanting to try make up for a while though, do you have any suggestions for "beginners"?

    1. Oh wow! I don't think I could go a week without wearing a bit of makeup haha. I'd recommend the Collection concealer if you're going to try out makeup again but you don't need two shades like me, just get the one that suits you. The Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara as its really good and you don't need to coat your lashes with a lot of it to see the difference - it also lasts ages which is a bonus! If you're going to try out foundation, a lot of people love MAC ones but I've never tried any so I can't comment but I love the Benefit one at the moment. I'd also recommend trying out the Make Up Revolution eyeshadow palettes as they're really good for the price, I've got sooo many haha. Hope this all helps!

    1. I really want to try out their foundation but I just can't seem to find the right shade when I'm there and they're always too busy to colour match me argh. I haven't tried any Tarte products yet, what are your faves?

  11. I love looking into people's makeup bags, I've been meaning to do a post like this for ages. I love the Mac fix+ and use it probably as much as you! I've also been dying to try the Benefit Watt's up for a while so will definitely be buying it some time this year!

    1. I love looking into others as well, I'm so nosey but it gives me the chance to come across new products/brands I'd never think of trying otherwise! The Watts Up is really good, it goes from a cream to a powder without going powdery looking(if that makes sense haha)but I like that about it x
